Greetings praying friends,
In just a few hours, Paul will depart on DAI Ministry trip #1 for 2019 – to Lahore, Pakistan and Jakarta, Indonesia (the 3rd and 1st most populous Muslim nations on earth!).
But before offering detail on that trip and requesting prayer, a gigantic THANK YOU to our many friends who added financial partnership to prayer for our ministry in 2018. We met financial goals and needs to get us off to a good start.* A special thank-you to all who gave monthly, annually, and end-of-year. We deeply appreciate it.
Now a question: what do people with names like Obaid, Shahbaz, Hina, Adeel, Azeem, Asif, Iqbal and Makhdum all have in common? They are all part of the upcoming DAI MAOL (Masters of Arts in Organizational Leadership) cohort that starts January 21st.
With ministry finances in a good place, Paul departs January 16th to facilitate this cohort at Forman Christian College. Joining with DAI CEO Jane Overstreet, the co-facilitator, they will facilitate the introduction of the Fund Raising for Ministry course (Jane) and the Culture, Ethnicity & Diversity (Paul) course with a large (over 30) cohort of Pakistani Christian leaders.
Then, on January 26th, Paul will fly to Jakarta, Indonesia to join a conference of Christian leaders coming from an Asian “limited access country” where the pressure on and persecution of Christians and churches has been on the rise in the past 18 months.
Here’s the schedule (we would welcome you following with us in ministry in these challenging and potentially dangerous locales):
January 16-18 – Travel: Paul flies Fort Myers (FL)-Houston-Tokyo-Bangkok-Lahore, Pakistan. Please pray for safe travels, good connections and baggage transfers, and some sleep.
January 19 – Workshop: Paul will join the “Fund-Raising for Ministry” non-formal workshop for local leaders that Jane will lead.
January 20 – Preaching: Paul will preach at the services of the Christian congregation that meets on the Forman Christian College campus. Please pray for ability to encourage these believers who face pressure and anti-Christian sentiment that most of us in North America cannot understand.
January 21-26 – the DAI Masters level cohort meets 8 am to 5 pm daily. Pray for excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
January 26 (late evening) to 27 – Travel: Paul flies Lahore-Bangkok-Jakarta to join the leaders from the limited-access Asian nation.
January 27-31 – Conference: Paul will preach in the morning and offer a seminar in the afternoon on the 28th, 29th, and 31st. Please pray for the spirit of encouragement so that these leaders hear the voice of the Lord Jesus saying “Well done, faithful servants” and “Keep pressing on.”
January 31 – Travel: Paul flies Jakarta-Tokyo-Houston-Fort Myers (for those who did not catch it in Christmas newsletter and schedule, we’re living in SW Florida December 2018 through March/April 2019 as “snow birds” who migrated south for the winter.
OTHER PRAYER REQUESTS:
- Please pray for ability to overcome jet lag, stay healthy, and adjust well.
- Please pray that Paul and Christie can find ways to communicate and stay in touch.
- Please pray for our ongoing fund-raising for ministry ahead in 2019. We closed 2018 well – but not as well as in past years – and January through March are often the slowest months in terms of support gifts.*
THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH US, “HELPING US BY YOUR PRAYERS” ( 2 Cor. 1:10-11)
Joyfully on the journey & grateful for you,
Christie & Paul
